Rolex Explorer II A Fine Watch

by Billy John

I visited Switzerland a few year back. While I was there I ended up buying a Rolex Explorer II watch. The watch cost about $2000 which is pretty expensive in my books. The reason why I bought the watch was to sell it when I returned home and make a bit of money off of it.

In the end, I kept the watch for one reason or another. I personally love diving, so having a watch that is resitant to water up to 100 meters is great. I don't dive that deep so this watch was just perfect. I have kept this watch while diving a few times and it works just as normal underwater.

This watch weight might bother you if you are a person whith arhritic or joint pains. It weights 8 ounces which does not bother me personally but I do know some people who will not like it. Just like the orginonal Rolex Explorer, the explorer II features a minute, hour, time zone, date and second hand.

The date is made larger with a bubble that serves as a magnifying glass also the way the hands ticks are very smooth. It is really nice listening to the watch, also I find the design to be a lot better than rolex submariner.

There is a red hand on the front of the watch. The red hand is your home time zone and when take a trip you can adjust the black hour hand which takes just a few seconds. The watch comes in two dial colors a black or white dial. My Rolex has the white dial and it looks still after 7 years.

The watch system is automatic, meaning there is a half weighted pendulum that powers the mainspring. The mainspring then powers the other springs and gears which in turn powering the watch. The watch has a clutch system that makes sure you don't over wind it.

This watch is really great. You can hand it down to your kid or grand kid, also people do not realize it is a rolex but it's a fine watch and great for ownership.

This watch features a sapphire crystal as the glass piece. This crystal is very resistant to all daily abuse that is put onto your watch. You can rest assured you won't get a scratch.
