Hot Jewelry in the World of Drop Earrings

If you like jewelry as much as I do, you probably own a pair of amethyst drop earrings. These are great jewelry pieces and my favorite ones can literally be worn with just about any outfit, which I absolutely love.

When looking at the fashion world during this season, there's a lot going on. Drop earrings are definitely a big part of that, and I want to review some of the hotter sets of these earrings that you might come across.

Celebrities love these and I have a feeling that this jewelry style will continue to evolve, with new pairs springing up regularly. I'm really happy to see that many new fashion designers are entering the game as well.

Let's take a look at some pairs that may be of interest to you. Hopefully at least one of these appeals to you!

If you've ever heard of Just Cavalli, you'll know that they have a great presence in the jewelry world and they've never fallen short when it comes to earrings. I'm a big fan of their amethyst drop earrings, known as the Boule ones. I really like the combination of the purple and brass. These retail at $249 per pair.

This next pair is just for fun, even though I'll never be able to afford them in my lifetime. These are made by Tiffany, and they sell for $40,000! The teardrop earrings almost make me want to rob a jewelry store, but there's something more important to take away from this.

Now we obviously can't afford these, but the takeaway here is the high likelihood that many designers will emulate the teardrop look and feel, offering up much more affordable sets on their own. Look for the teardrop style to gain momentum in 2010.

One more pair that I'd like to discuss is David Yurman's onyx earrings. These are the most affordable of the bunch, at $70. They look great and these are definitely worth a look.
